Summerfest! Like the last five installments, the Big Gig is staking out three Thursday-Friday-Saturday blocks instead of the old 11-day run. In an effort to help you make some potentially difficult decisions, Milwaukee Record is offering Record Recommendations for all three weekends of Summerfest: a suggested headliner, a reason to show up early, a can’t-miss local act, and a tip for a way to have a cheaper and/or better experience. Here are our Record Recommendations for Summerfest’s final weekend.
THURSDAY, JULY 2
HEADLINER: The Beths @ Briggs & Stratton Big Backyard, 10 p.m.
Auckland, New Zealand indie rockers The Beths don’t make it to Milwaukee very often. In fact, their last time performing in our fair city—and the band’s only Milwaukee appearance to this point—was an early evening Summerfest outing in June 2019. Since then, The Beths have seen both their notoriety and their catalog grow exponentially. Currently touring the country as the direct support act for Spoon, they’ll get to spend a night in the role of headliner when they close out the Thursday block at the Briggs & Stratton Big Backyard in their long-awaited Milwaukee return.
ALSO: Gin Blossoms @ Uline Warehouse, 9:30 p.m.
EARLY BIRD: Living Colour @ Generac Power Stage, 5:30 p.m.
Accomplished and influential New York rockers Living Colour, who played Summerfest in both 2021 and 2024 (with a 2023 Pabst Theater show breaking the Big Gig pattern), will return to the grounds Thursday evening to give folks a legitimate reason to leave work early and get their butts to the festival.
ALSO: Sunflower Bean @ Briggs & Stratton Big Backyard, 6 p.m.
LOCAL: Gold Steps @ T-Mobile Stage, 2:30 p.m.
Milwaukee pop-punk treasure Gold Steps can/should be enjoyed all year long, but something about their warm, bouncy, hook-laden sound just begs to be listened to outside with a drink in hand as you’re in the general proximity of a lake on a summer afternoon. Thankfully, that exact scenario will be able to play out this Thursday when the ever-busy quartet treats the T-Mobile Stage to its batch of excellent originals and maybe a few choice covers tossed in for good measure.
ALSO: El Sebas @ Miller Lite Oasis, 6:30 p.m.
DEAL/TIP: Lilly Basic Needs Closet Supply Drive Supporting Boys & Girls Clubs of Kenosha
Help support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kenosha’s Basic Needs Closet which ensures youth throughout the Kenosha area have access to life’s basic necessities, empowering them to focus on their education and future success. The first 5,000 fans who arrive between 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. and donate NEW deodorant, toothbrushes, body wipes, or school supplies with a total minimum value of $10, will receive one FREE General Admission ticket, valid for the day and time of the promotion only. All proceeds benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kenosha.
FRIDAY, JULY 3
HEADLINER: Spoon @ Generac Power Stage, 9:30 p.m.
Despite being a band for more than 30 years, Spoon is still as good and entertaining as ever. Currently in the midst of a U.S. tour with the aforementioned likes of The Beths, the long-running Austin, Texas rock outfit will squeeze a festival headlining appearance into the mix as they’re sure to delight a bursting Generac Power Stage crowd with a night of time-tested hits and maybe even a few deep cuts along the way. You’ll have to see for yourself on Friday, July 3.
ALSO: Rev Run @ Briggs & Stratton Big Backyard, 10 p.m.
EARLY BIRD: Wave x Nile @ T-Mobile Stage, 4:15 p.m.
On their own, Wave Chapelle and NilexNile are each among the city’s most active and all-around enjoyable emcees. Together, they’re an experience that shouldn’t, no, cannot be missed. A few weeks after lighting up Summer Soulstice, “Wave x Nile” will once again take the stage together at Summerfest. Yes, they’re local, but they’re also the best thing you’re going to see on the grounds before 5 p.m. this Friday.
ALSO: Ken Pomeroy @ Uline Warehouse, 5:30 p.m.
LOCAL: Social Cig @ Generac Power Stage, 12:30 p.m.
We strongly recommend you get to Henry Maier Festival Park early on Friday. Not only is admission absolutely FREE from 12-3 p.m., you’ll also be able to catch a rare early afternoon set from up-and-coming Milwaukee indie rock project (and 2026 Morgan Park Picnic headliner) Social Cig. Just get to the Generac Power Stage by 12:30 p.m. and thank us later.
ALSO: Max And The Fellow Travelers @ Miller Lite Oasis, 12:30 p.m.
DEAL/TIP: Summerfest Fan Appreciation Day Presented By Potawatomi Casino Hotel

SATURDAY, JULY 4
HEADLINER: BoDeans @ Generac Power Stage, 9:30 p.m.
What better way is there to celebrate your freedom this Independence Day than seeing the band famous for the song “Closer To Free” on one of Summerfest’s free stages? Okay, don’t answer that question. Anyway, BoDeans are playing the Generac Power Stage at 9:30 p.m. on July 4.
ALSO: Sad Boy Saturday @ Aurora Pavilion, 9 p.m.
EARLY BIRD: Jerry Harrison’s 50 Years Of Talking Heads @ Uline Warehouse, 5:30 p.m.
While he’s also highly regarded for his solo material, for being part of Modern Lovers, and for his work as a producer, Jerry Harrison will always be best-known as a member of Talking Heads. The Shorewood, Wisconsin native will treat a hometown crowd to an early evening journey through the legendary new wave band’s catalog during “Jerry Harrison’s 50 Years Of Talking Heads.”
ALSO: Tag Team @ Aurora Pavilion, 5:45 p.m.
LOCAL: Gego y Nony @ Aurora Pavilion, 4:30 p.m.
Immediately before Summerfest’s Aurora Pavilion plays host to the intriguing one-two punch of Tag Team and Baha Men, festers can get a dash of local flare when Milwaukee reggaeton purveyors Gego y Nony help set the tone for the night ahead with their lively music, endless energy, and fun stage show.
ALSO: Known Moons @ T-Mobile Stage, 2:30 p.m.
DEAL/TIP: Freedom On The Fourth Food Drive Presented By Harley-Davidson

All food will be collected at the Mid Gate entrance. Canned fruits and vegetables are especially appreciated! All donations benefit Hunger Task Force.
