Did you know that Milwaukee’s historic Oriental Theatre is one of fewer than 20 cinemas in the entire country equipped to project 70mm films year-round? It’s true! Seeing movies projected on 35mm film is rare enough these days; 70mm screenings are even rarer, offering twice the clarity, richness, and Movie Magic. Don’t believe us? Check out Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, screening in 70mm at the Oriental through Wednesday, August 5. (It will be projected digitally after that.)

“The Oriental Theatre is one of the only cinemas in the country with the capacity to screen a series like this, and maintaining the specialty projection equipment and trained technical staff is an important part of the role we play in the history of cinema in Milwaukee,” says Kelsey Parks, Milwaukee Film’s Technical Manager, in a press release. “Keeping the practice of celluloid projection alive and creating the opportunity for our city to experience films in the medium they were shot and originally exhibited, are key to what sets Milwaukee Film apart.”
And yes, we’ll try to come up with some goofy journeys to embark on after these films, too.
