Looking for a roundup of Milwaukee food and drink news? Then take a bite of our cleverly titled, bi-weekly Food/Drink Roundup! This week: a new smoothie place opening next to a boba place on Downer Avenue.

• Earlier this year, a boba and cocktail place called SereniTea Lounge opened in a high-profile Downer Avenue space that had been vacant for nearly 18 years. Well, it opened in half of that Downer Avenue space, anyway. The full space, last occupied by The Chancery way back in 2007, was split into two in recent years. SereniTea occupies 2569 N. Downer Ave.; but what about the space next door, 2575 N. Downer Ave.? Glad you asked! It might be a smoothie place!

Yes, Tropical Smoothie Cafe has plans to open a quick-service location in the Downer space. It would be the third Milwaukee location for the 1,400-location national chain. “Beyond smoothies,” reports Urban Milwaukee, “the menu includes smoothie bowls with toppings like goji berries and Nutella, Greek yogurt bowls, sweet and savory breakfast wraps, sandwiches, flatbreads, salads, quesadillas and sides such as roasted sweet potatoes, kale slaw and jalapeño corn.”

R.I.P. Chancery, we suppose. We could still see chunks of its menu in 2021. [Urban Milwaukee]

• Lombardi Brewing Company has plans to move into the former City Lights Brewing space, 2200 W. Mount Vernon Ave. “Amazing how much buzz starts when you apply for a permit or two!” reads a message on Lombardi’s Facebook page. The increasingly shade-throwing message continues:

It’s early in the process and as much as we want to go full send, our pace won’t be matched by those who control licensing. Our story will be out soon, but until then, a few articles will be hitting the wire with bits and pieces of information. We did ask folks to give us a moment to put together an appropriate press release, but the need to get to “print” first, could not wait. We are getting thirsty and can’t wait to share our craft with you!

Yeah, that was My Office. It closed in 2020, but its spirit may live on in a new bar and restaurant coming to the space. The new joint’s name? Your Office, of course. [Urban Milwaukee]
