“Current Affairs” is the latest FREE talk from the Milwaukee chapter of CreativeMornings. The monthly series finds local creative folks holding forth on various topics, all in a relaxed, no-pressure, open-to-the-public environment. Recent past events have featured the likes of filmmaker Khaula Kai, and artist-about-town dwellephant.
“Current Affairs” will feature four speakers: Carole Nicksin, editor and publisher of Milwaukee Magazine; James Groh, reporter for TMJ4 News; Lainey Seyler, deputy editor at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel; and, in a booking that stretches the definition of “media professional,” Matt Wild of Milwaukee Record. “Current Affairs” is set for Friday, September 18, 8:30-10:30 a.m. at Hubbard Park Lodge. Tickets are FREE, though you’ll need to register HERE.

This month, as we explore CURRENT, we’re asking: what happens to human interest when machines can write the story too?
Join us for a conversation with some of Milwaukee’s sharpest editorial voices from Milwaukee Magazine, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, WTMJ4, and Milwaukee Record about writing, creativity, and craft in an era of AI-generated everything. We’ll talk about what’s at stake when local journalism competes with algorithms and why the words worth reading are still the ones written by someone who was actually there to tell us about it.
