Four months after purchasing a storefront in Bay View—and roughly a year and a half after debuting as a subscription service—Lion’s Tooth (2421 S. Kinnickinnic Ave., 414-455-3498) is finally open.

Similar to the subscription service, the brick-and-mortar Lion’s Tooth features a curated selection of graphic novels for kids and adults, fiction and non-fiction books (including titles from Milwaukee and Wisconsin authors), young adult and teen literature, and picture books for small children. Prints from local artists, zines, toys, gifts, apparel, and other curiosities round out the store’s offerings.

Want to check it out in person? For the time being, you’ll need an appointment. (Make one HERE.)

“An appointment is good for a 20-minute private shopping session to check out the store and get personal recommendations from us,” explains Cris Siqueira, who co-owns Lion’s Tooth with Shelly McClone-Carriere. “One family or pod of up to five people per appointment, masks required. When there is no appointment in progress, small groups of people will also be able to walk in.”

Post-COVID, Lion’s Tooth will double as a social space complete with book clubs, readings, live music, beer, wine, and snacks. (Drinks will be available for carryout within the week.) Until then, take a look inside via the pictures below, and book your appointment today!
