While Cactus Club isn’t the first place that comes to mind when it comes to comedy, they really make it count the rare times they decide to delve into the realm of stand-up. Last summer, they hosted the incomparable Sarah Squirm—a.k.a. Sarah Sherman of Saturday Night Live fame—for a pair of sold-out shows. A few months later, Connor O’Malley took over the club for a pair of sweaty, high-energy, and sold-out performances. Keeping with that exciting trend, the Bay View venue will host another unconventional alt-comic this fall.
On Sunday, October 22, actor, writer, and comedian Carmen Christopher will come to Cactus Club for what’s sure to be a hilarious evening of off kilter comedy as part of his ongoing “The Waverunner Stand Up Comedy Tour.” Tickets to this 18+ show are $15 and they’re on sale NOW. The start time is listed at 8 p.m. and Milwaukee’s own Raegan Niemela will open things up.
If Christopher’s name doesn’t immediately ring a bell, you probably recognize him from his appearances on shows like The Bear, I Think You Should Leave, Killing It, Shrill, and Joe Pera Talks With You. Speaking of Pera, some of you probably remember Christopher as the opener for Joe Pera’s pair of shows at The Back Room @ Colectivo in April 2022. Oh yeah, Christopher also has his own comedy special on Peacock in which he performs his material to unsuspecting audiences while lugging a speaker around New York.
