Since the fall of 2019, Milwaukee has been lucky enough to be home to Lion’s Tooth, a small press subscription service that aims to spread the good word of books and graphic novels to adults, young adults, and kids alike. The brainchild of Shelly McClone-Carriere and Cris Siqueira, Lion’s Tooth is built around a simple premise: sign up for an adults or kids subscription (there are three age groups for kids), and receive a monthly care package featuring a new release book or graphic novel, something special from a featured graphic artist, a mini-zine, and other random goodies. We’re subscribers ourselves. It’s great!

Lion’s Tooth has been organizing terrific monthly pop-up book clubs at Sugar Maple (the next one is set for March 21), but McClone and Siqueira have plans for something bigger. Enter an Indiegogo campaign to raise funds for a future physical storefront.

“We are planning a bookstore café with a busy event calendar including story time, book clubs, art exhibits and music shows,” reads the Indiegogo campaign. “Lion’s Tooth will be a magical space for people of all ages. We want to become your favorite place!”

How can you help make this goal become a reality? By signing up for a subscription, of course. “The financial goal of this campaign is roughly the equivalent of 100 six-month adults subscriptions, including taxes and shipping,” reads the Indiegogo campaign. So sign up now! Subscriptions range from a $25 single kids care package to a $320 one-year adults subscription.
