Back in May 2023, we screened the 1985 classic Back To The Future at the Avalon Atmospheric Theater. You know, the first one with the whole “Marty’s mom falls in love with him” thing. Now, one year later, we’re going back to the Back To The Future franchise and screening 1989’s Back To The Future Part II at the Avalon on Wednesday, May 29. You know, the second one with the whole “future Biff goes back in time to give young Biff a sports almanac, thus creating a Trump-like present Biff” thing. Great Scott!

Tickets to the 7 p.m. screening—sponsored by Lakefront Brewery and Gruber Law Offices—are $11, and are on sale NOW. We hope the dude with the DeLorean randomly shows up again!

Part II is a deeply weird movie, right? Multiple timelines, a theme-park vision of the future, a hell-on-Earth vision of the (alternate) present, hoverboards, almanacs, self-drying jackets, and characters going back into the events of the first movie and running into their past-past selves. Back To The Future II doesn’t have the not-a-moment-wasted perfection of the first one, but it’s a dizzying blast nonetheless. Plus (spoiler for a 35-year-old movie), it ends on a cliffhanger. Look for our screening of Part III (you know, the Old West one) in 2025!
