Following an almost-fall fest in 2021, Summerfest is set to take over three summer weekends in 2022: June 23-25, June 30-July 2, and July 7-9. This year’s Big Gig will feature just-announced headliner Rod Stewart (with Cheap Trick!), and previously announced headliners like Justin Bieber, Halsey, and Jason Aldean. Oh, and it’ll also feature “no plans to require proof of vaccination or proof of a negative test” to get in.

That last bit was included in today’s Rod Stewart announcement. The full paragraph in question reads:

Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. does not intend to implement entrance protocols or a mask requirement for Summerfest 2022, which is scheduled June 23-25, June 30-July 2 and July 7-9. There are no plans to require proof of vaccination or proof of a negative test. MWF will monitor the situation and continue to work closely with health experts, while following local guidelines.

Masks and proof of vaccination were required at Summerfest 2021, which took place September 2-4, 9-11, and 16-18. A mere 409,386 people attended the pandemic-era Summerfest 2021, though it was still a ton of fun. Wilco was great, Michael Winslow did some funny sound effects, and the Spin Doctors played twice.
