When we last checked in with BLAX, the veteran Milwaukee rapper was paying tribute to fallen local icons like Cecilio “Ceeloe” Negrón, Jr., Antoine “Twan” Mack, and Kid Millions. “Take A Picture” also touched on subjects like growing up, growing older, and wondering where all the time went. “Grays coming in my beard / These days is feeling weird / Take a picture,” BLAX rapped. Weird days, indeed.

BLAX’s latest song is about growing up, too, though it’s a decidedly more upbeat take on the subject matter. “Young Ghetto Boy” is a nostalgic coming-of-age tale filled with sneakers, basketball, government cheese, and rolling doobies and cracking a Guinness while marveling at it all. “This song is about looking back at that young man who had to figure it out on his own,” says BLAX, a.k.a. Adebisi Agoro. Listen to the 4AR-produced track here:

“Yeah, growing up was tough, but there’s something beautiful about that hustle and determination to make it out,” BLAX adds. “I wanted to capture that energy—the struggle but also the hope.”
