BLAXPLOITATION, the latest album from (who else?) BLAX, finds the veteran Milwaukee rapper at his creative and spiritual best. One minute he’s preaching the gospel of a life well-lived and hard-won (“Blessed”), and the next he’s baring his soul in an emotionally devastating but ultimately uplifting tribute to his late son (“Teenager”). It’s a stunning record, one of BLAX’s best.
The accompanying videos for BLAXPLOITATION, too, are restless and life-affirming. The “Intelligent Beings” clip finds BLAX playing multiple roles in a droll, Wes Anderson-esque coffee shop drama:
The “Interpretation Of Dreams” video, meanwhile, finds him making more intimate video magic in the confines of a Nashville studio:
Now, BLAX keeps the Nashville vibes going with the video for “Ballerina.” Directed by Corrionado Ideología, the clip takes to the Nashville streets and presents the artist as a wandering (and pink-masked) truth seeker. It’s a moody, mysterious visual for a moody, mysterious song. Watch it now:
