Looking for a roundup of Milwaukee food and drink news? Then take a bite of our cleverly titled, bi-weekly Food/Drink Roundup! This week:
• You know that restaurant space at 1000 E. Locust St.? That space across the street from Linneman’s, on the corner of Locust and Weil? That space that’s absolutely cursed and has seen 8,000 restaurants (Kitchen Kings, Sticky Rice, Thai Lotus, Antonio’s Pizza, Milano Pizza, Packer’s Pizza And Chicken, more) come and go over the years? Yeah, that one. Well, it might be something else now.
A taco place called Raul’s Taco Shop, to be exact. “Like its predecessors, Raul’s Taco Shop will focus on takeout, offering classic Mexican dishes from a small service window,” reports Urban Milwaukee. “The 900-square-foot restaurant space includes a public-facing counter and indoor waiting area, but no on-site space for dining.”
Raul’s is still awaiting approval from the Milwaukee Common Council. [Urban Milwaukee]

• Speaking of new locations, downtown bakery Midwest Sad—you know, that place in the same office building as Shah Jee’s—is moving to 601 S. 6th St. in Walker’s Point. The new Midwest Sad will be a “day-to-night operation, with deli, bakery and coffee available in the morning and a shift to ‘cozy speakeasy/bar snacks’ at night.” [Milwaukee Journal Sentinel]
• Real estate firm Cobalt Partners is moving from the ground floor to the top floor of the downtown Commission House building at 400 N. Broadway. Coming to the newly vacant ground floor space? An “innovative restaurant concept that would be new to Milwaukee.” [Milwaukee Business Journal]
• Explorium Brewpub acquired Good City Brewing and its four locations back in January. Now, the East Side Good City location at 2108 N. Farwell Ave. is set to be rebranded and reopened as Proprietors Table and Taps. It’s expected to open in April. [Milwaukee Journal Sentinel]
• Caribbean bar and restaurant Sabor Tropical is leaving its six-year home at 2258 S. Kinnickinnic Ave. and reopening…somewhere. [Urban Milwaukee]
• Mr. Dye’s Pies now has even more pies (well, pasties) at 3rd St. Market Hall. [OnMilwaukee]
