When we last caught up with Vanity Plates back in January, the Milwaukee band that describes itself as “alt-pop for overthinking underachievers” was exploring the Mitchell Park Domes and pondering the idea of immortality through music in its “Posthumous Fame” music video. Since then, the trio has played a handful of shows, appeared on WMSE’s Local/Live, and released its excellent sophomore album digitially and on cassette.
Now that Good Grief has been out in the world for a few months, the band is chasing “Posthumous Fame” with a video for the album’s second single, which has a decidedly lighter concept than its predecessor. Today, Vanity Plates released a video for “Murphy Bunkbed.” The visual accompaniment for the track—which was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Josh Evert at Silver City Studios—features grainy found footage of dogs that vocalist Alex Shah spliced together into one video. Sure, it might not be super high concept nor follow a clear narrative, but on the other hand…check out all those dogs!
Vanity Plates will perform at Great Lakes Distillery on Saturday, October 5 and at Cactus Club on Thursday, October 10. Ahead of those live outings, have yourself a doggone good time and watch the pooch-packed Vanity Plates video for “Murphy Bunkbed” below.
