Even now, close to three decades after his untimely death, Chris Farley still holds a special place in the hearts of Wisconsinites and comedy fans throughout the world. Heck, the Madison native and Marquette graduate is even the namesake of a new rural Wisconsin bar and grill. Next month, Milwaukee Record will host a belated 30th anniversary screening of Farley’s most beloved film. On Wednesday, May 21, we’ll be taking over Avalon Theater for a rare screening of Tommy Boy. Tickets to this 7 p.m. screening are on sale NOW.

In case you somehow clicked this link without knowing what Tommy Boy is about, the classic 1995 buddy comedy stars Farley as the titular Tommy Callahan. The well-meaning fail son finds himself embarking on a sales trip across the Midwest with his father’s wise-cracking former assistant Richard (David Spade) in an effort to sell enough brake pads to save both his dad’s company and a working class Ohio community. Oodles of timeless quotes and countless iconic scenes ensue. Along the way, you’ll also encounter Bo Derek, Rob Lowe, Brian Dennehy, and Dan Aykroyd. Oh, and a lot of the movie is set in Wisconsin!

Reserved seating tickets to this “Milwaukee Record Presents” screening are $11. You can get them HERE. As always, the screening will be sponsored by our friends at Lakefront Brewery, Gruber Law Offices, and Skilos: A Family Pet Store. Instead of trying to sell you on going to this screening, we’ll just leave you with this simple question from Tommy himself: “You can take a good look at a butcher’s ass by sticking your head up there, but wouldn’t you rather take his word for it?” Uh, yeah…we’ll be seeing you at the Avalon on May 21!
