A long-in-the-works Milwaukee public transportation project officially opened on Thursday: the Couture Transit Concourse. Located in the street-level belly of the just-about-finished Couture luxury apartment tower at 909 E. Michigan St.—on the site of the former Milwaukee Transit Center—the public concourse will serve as the eastern terminus for the now fully operational L-Line of The Hop. Milwaukee County Transit System’s CONNECT 1 bus rapid transit line will also utilize the concourse beginning June 2.

Thursday’s big occasion was marked with a big ribbon cutting ceremony attended by big Milwaukee bigwigs: Mayor Cavalier Johnson, County Executive David Crowley, Barrett Visionary Development President Rick Barrett, Alders Bob Bauman and Jonathan Brostoff, and many more. There were also a lot of people taking pictures.

So, in the spirit of our groundbreaking 2018 “pictures of people taking pictures of the Milwaukee streetcar” series, we decided to, well, take pictures of people taking pictures of the ribbon cutting ceremony for the streetcar’s Couture Transit Concourse. “Are you doing that thing where you take pictures of people taking pictures?” asked everyone we knew there. Yep! Enjoy!

Thanks to Jeff Bentoff for the mandatory picture of me taking pictures of people taking pictures
