Back in 2017, the Milwaukee Brewers released one of the finest fan giveaways in the history of baseball: a Bob Uecker-themed magic 8-ball. Just ask the haunted hunk of hollow plastic a question, flip it over, and read the answer printed on a 10-sided die floating in a bubble of mysterious blue liquid. It was novel, it was Uecker, and it was a nice break from the 17th bobblehead of Robin Yount’s 3,000th hit or whatever.

Six years later, we still have a Uecker 8-ball hanging around our office—and it still works! So let’s ask the thing a bunch of questions about the Brewers’ 2023 season! That season begins today, in Chicago, against the Cubs. (The home opener is April 3 against the New York Mets.) Uecker, meanwhile, is celebrating his 53RD YEAR behind the Brewers’ mic! Congrats!
