September is a time of transition. This month finds summer officially giving way to fall. This month also signals the informal end of Milwaukee’s festival season. Though the seasonal shift brings about a decline of outdoor events in town, local clubs and theaters are escalating the volume and the caliber of talent they book in effort to keep the entertainment coming as the temperatures outside dip. That said, Milwaukee isn’t exactly ending this summer with a whimper or limping into autumn. Even beyond our monthly movie screening, our recurring DJ series, and the start of our Halftime Show concert series, there’s a lot to keep you entertained this month. Here are some of our favorites.
Saturday, September 5
Holy Pinto (album release) + Moonglow, Waterspouts @ Vivarium
Milwaukee (by way of Canterbury, England) singer-songwriter Aymen Saleh—who releases music under the Holy Pinto moniker—has been steadily treating listeners to disparate one-off singles and teasing an eventual album since 2022. Well, more than four years later, the time will finally come for that long-awaited record to finally and fully see the light of day. The sprawling, ambitious, and downright excellent Wedding Season features 18 indie-pop gems that range from touching ballads, songs about love and and settling, interstitial tales of romantic wrongdoings, and even a dash of humor. You can hear songs from the record and pick up a copy of your own when Holy Pinto plays a release show at Vivarium. Moonglow and Waterspouts will play in support.
Saturday, September 5
The Milwaukee Polka Riot @ Linneman’s Riverwest Inn
Attention polkaholics, polkanewbies, and stans for the Kenosha Kickers: the Milwaukee Polka Riot (“America’s first and only alternative polka festival!”) is set to return on Saturday, September 5. The long-running fest’s 2026 installment will take place at Linneman’s Riverwest Inn, both inside and outside the historic Riverwest venue. The Riot—once again organized by the fine folks behind Milwaukee polka hip-hop band November Criminals—will feature performances from them, other polka and polka-adjacent groups, as well as polka-focused DJs and special guest Mario The Poet. Milwaukee Polka Riot runs from 2-10 p.m. There’s no cover, though organizers encourage attendees to buy a T-shirt at the event to support the Riot.
Friday, September 11
Kacey Musgraves + Midland @ Fiserv Forum
Hot off the heels of releasing her sixth studio album, Middle Of Nowhere, Grammy-winning singer and songwriter Kacey Musgraves is embarking on an arena tour. That aptly-named “Middle Of Nowhere Tour” will bring her to Milwaukee’s Fiserv Forum on Friday, September 11. Midland will open.
Friday, September 11 through Sunday, September 13
Sam Tallent @ Milwaukee Improv (5 shows!)
Colorado comedian Sam Tallent has toured relentlessly across North America and Europe, amassed TV credits on Comedy Central and Viceland, and his debut novel (Running The Light) has garnered favorable reviews from literary critics and inspired kind words from fellow comics like Marc Maron and Ron White. Tallent—who has become something of a Milwaukee regular the past five years—will return to the region for five shows at the Milwaukee Improv in nearby Brookfield spread over three late summer nights.

Peaches @ The Rave / Eagles Club
The irreverent, influential, and all-around iconic Peaches will come to Milwaukee on Sunday, September 13 to treat The Rave to cuts from her new album, No Lube So Rude, along with other material from her raunchy, raucous, and undeniably dance-y catalog.
Thursday, September 17
An Evening With Kevin Smith @ Pabst Theater
No snoogins! The famed writer, director, and the less talkative half of Jay & Silent Bob will be treating Pabst Theater to an evening of anecdotes from his extensive, impressive, and super funny career.
Friday, September 18
Mondo Lucha! @ Turner Hall
Since starting in 2008, Mondo Lucha has brought high-flying wrestling action, burlesque dancers, and live music to its annual Turner Hall showcase. Along the way, the variety show has managed to work with renowned pro wrestlers, sell out numerous shows, and become a must-attend Milwaukee event. The beloved local variety show returns to its familiar ballroom haunt Friday, September 18!
Saturday, September 19
Bay View Bash @ Bay View (Kinnickinnic Ave. between Potter and Clement)
Bay View Bash will return to Kinnickinnic Avenue on Saturday, September 19 and will fill the eponymous neighborhood with 11 hours worth of live entertainment, family fun, retail vendors, food, drinks, and more.

Freshwater Food & Wine Festival @ Henry Maier Festival Park
“Designed as a celebration of food, wine, hospitality, and pop culture, Freshwater Food & Wine Festival will bring together nationally recognized culinary talent, award-winning restaurants, global wine experiences, live entertainment, and one-of-a-kind activations along Milwaukee’s lakefront. Freshwater Food & Wine Festival will be September 19–20, 2026, at Milwaukee’s iconic Henry Maier Festival Park.”

The Bouncing Souls + The Suicide Machines @ The Argo
Punk legends The Bouncing Souls are still at it after all these years. Not only is the seminal band—which has been active since 1989—still touring, they’re continuing to write and release new music. On Sunday, September 20, they’ll help Milwaukee (and nearby Whitefish Bay) say farewell to summer in memorable fashion when they come to The Argo in support of their months-old Born To Be album. Michigan ska-punk vets The Suicide Machines will open.
Tuesday, September 22
WNBA Watch Party (Minnesota vs. Indiana): Allison Mahal @ Cactus Club
Milwaukee Record is bringing you multi-faceted monthly WNBA watch parties. In September we’re highlighting a Lynx vs. Fever game that will be shown (with sound on) at Cactus Club, both on the bar’s televisions and on a projector in the back room. There will be specials on WYNK and Pacifico (and you’ll get a ticket when purchasing either brand for a raffle that will be held after the third quarter). Classic Slice will provide free pizza (while supplies last!). A DJ will play music during commercial breaks and Allison Mahal will treat hoopsters to a FREE halftime performance.

An Evening Of Songs And Stories With Legendary Artist Patti Smith @ Riverside Theater
It’s been a minute since legendary musician/poet/author/icon Patti Smith graced Milwaukee with her legendary presence. (Like, since 2017?) That’ll change on September 23, when Smith will come to Riverside Theater for “an evening of songs and stories.” The appearance is in support of Smith’s latest memoir, Bread Of Angels. Each ticket includes a paperback copy of Bread Of Angels. Co-presenter Boswell Book Company notes “There will not be a book signing, meet-and-greet, or audience Q&A at this event.”

They Might Be Giants @ Pabst Theater
How does the old saying go? “No one in the world ever gets what they want, and that is beautiful”? Yeah, that’s it. Who said that again? Oh yeah, it was They Might Be Giants! And why are we bringing up the ever-delightful, fantastic-as-always alt/geek-rock duo of John Flansburgh and John Linnell? Because they’re coming to Pabst Theater for a two-night engagement, Thursday, September 24 and Friday, September 25. Turns out you can get what you want, and that, too, is beautiful!

Dulcé Sloan @ The Laughing Tap (four shows!)
When you have a chance to see rising stand up star and The Daily Show correspondent Dulcé Sloan in an intimate East Town comedy club, you take it. On Friday, September 25 and Saturday, September 26, just a few months removed from her PrideFest appearance, you’ll actually have FOUR opportunities to see Sloan at The Laughing Tap.
Sunday, September 27
Alley Cats III: MEOWLOWEEN @ Falcon Hall
From 12-4 p.m., Falcon Bowl will be the cat’s pajamas as it hosts a multi-faceted event for a great cause. There will be adoptable cats on hand for a “meet and greet” session in the venue’s green room from 12-2 p.m. In Falcon Hall itself, attendees can play cat-themed games and browse feline-focused goodies from vendors, then stop by Urban Cat Coalition’s donation station to help get items from the organization’s wish list. Speaking of donations, $1 from every Meowloween cocktail purchased at the Falcon Bowl bar that afternoon will be donated to Urban Cat Coalition, as will half the proceeds from $20 bowling games purchased during the event. Last but certainly not least, The Hissy Kits—Milwaukee’s premier theremin-incorporating “Feline Expressionism” jazz project—will perform beginning 2:30 p.m. There’s a suggest $5-$10 donation and costumes are “strongly encouraged.”
