What do you get when you combine Bon Iver, Bob Dylan, and the long-awaited return of an idiosyncratic music festival in northwestern Wisconsin? “Bon Dylan” playing Eaux Claires, of course.
Yes, as previously teased in a February lineup announcement, Justin Vernon of Bon Iver will perform as “Bon Dylan” at this year’s Eaux Claires festival in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The one-night-only tribute is scheduled for the festival’s first night, Friday, July 24. (Aimee Mann, playing her 2000 album Bachelor No. 2 Or, The Last Remains Of The Dodo, will headline that night.)
Oh, and Vernon won’t be channeling just any Dylan—he’s going for Dylan circa 1994, performing songs “from every era.”
Here’s Vernon explaining the whole thing (and more), scored by his rendition of Dylan’s “Not Dark Yet,” which was released in 1997. “I’m trying to turn ‘Bon’ into ‘Bob,'” he says.

The Eaux Claires festival is set to return after an eight-year hiatus July 24-25. It will be held in Eau Claire’s Carson Park. Mann, Lil Yachty, Hotline TNT, and Monica Martin are just a few of the other scheduled performers. Here’s the poster:

And there’s more! An accompanying “Eaux Claires Days” will feature “special shows and welcome events into town during the days and nights surrounding the weekend.” And the fest itself will come complete with a Writers in Residence program “presenting readings, discussions and collaborations from some of the most intriguing names in the literary world: Michael Perry, Sheila Heti, Hala Alyan, Sean Thor Conroe, Kyle Seibel, Amanda Petrusich, Jon Mueller, Nicholas Gulig, Harold Rogers, Mike Nagel, Benjamin Percy, Nishant Jain, Mustafa, Safia Elhillo, Patrycja Humienik, Brent Schoonover, Gabrielle Calvocoressi, Brenda Cárdenas, Katie Ka Vang, Adam Voith, Avery Gregurich and Donika Kelly.”
