WMSE‘s local and live in-studio showcase, Local/Live, airs Tuesdays 6-7 p.m. You can find past episodes HERE. Beginning in 2023, we’re also collecting episodes on a handy Soundcloud playlist.

CAL: Good evening, everybody. It’s two minutes past 6 p.m. here at WMSE. It’s Tuesday and you know what that means: it’s time for Local/Live. My name is Cal, I’m here with Sid. We’ve got Lauryl Sulfate & Her Ladies Of Leisure. Some listeners might remember them as The LOL, which was the band name up until last year at some point. They changed back to Lauryl Sulfate & Her Ladies Of Leisure, which was the original band name, and which I am a huge fan of I have to say. So I’m glad they brought that back.

It’s a duo these days: Lauryl Sulfate on vocals and guitar; and Mark Zbikowski on bass, synth, and backing vocals. They have a new song out called “Running” that came out in October. That’s going to be part of a new album that they’ve been working on that’s going to be out sometime this year, sometime soon. We’re going to talk about that and all kinds of other stuff when they come in to speak with us for the interview portion of the show a little later on. But first thing’s first, it’s going to be live music.
