We’re sure every red-blooded American enjoys free stuff, but Milwaukee really enjoys free stuff. Seriously, walk past any tent handing out free brats at Summerfest and tell us we’re wrong. Or, head to the Deer District on Wednesday, August 3 and try to get some free cheese curds and frozen custard from Culver’s “From Wisconsin With Love” food truck. You just know that line is gonna be a mile long.

But in case you’re down for the wait, here are the details: From noon to 6 p.m. on the 3rd, Culver’s first-ever food truck will be in the Deer District outside of Fiserv Forum, serving up free cheese curds and frozen custard. There’ll be an 8-foot-by-12-foot “cheese curd photo booth,” and 80-pound block of cheese that will be “carved into the shape of iconic Milwaukee landmarks like the Milwaukee Art Museum,” and a frozen custard-themed Plinko game. CurderBurgers will not be available, though we can dream.

“It’s always been our mission to bring a little bit of Wisconsin to our guests through delicious food and a commitment to caring for people—so bringing this experience to our home state means a lot to us,” said Culver’s co-founder Craig Culver in a press release, right before he destroyed Alex Lasry’s chances at running for the Wisconsin Senate. “This event is all about celebrating our common roots with our fellow Wisconsinites, and we can’t wait to have an unforgettable experience with people from all over the Milwaukee area.”

Culver’s will also donate $5,000 to one of two local organizations: Hunger Task Force and Camp Hometown Heroes. Folks at the Deer District will be able to vote for which org gets the 5K “by placing a token in a life-sized glass cow.” The runner-up will receive $2,500.

The Milwaukee event will be the 13th stop on Culver’s “From Wisconsin With Love” tour. The tour includes 17 cities across 14 states.

Culver’s is great. Their cheese curds are okay.
