Now that Christmas came and went, the new year has arrived, and the Packers season has ended, we’ve entered that particularly difficult period of winter in Wisconsin. We’ve gotten some brief glimmers of what spring will offer, but there’s sure to be at least one more cold snap or blizzard on the horizon. There’s still about two months of winter left and there’s nothing that can be done about it except, well, making the best of it.
We’ve already covered some of the winter festivals and various other standout events taking place between now and the start of spring, but there’s another way to embrace the season without leaning on alcohol or other substances. Actually, make that two great ways to embrace the season. Following a successful debut installment in which a few hundred folks gathered at South Shore Park for a day of free outdoor fun last February, Winter Break Milwaukee will double the fun in 2025.
There will be a pair of grassroots seasonal celebrations this time around. The first will take place at Bradford Beach from 12-4 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, followed by and Havenwoods State Forest edition from 12-4 p.m. on Saturday, February 15. With two very different locations, you can be sure there will be a especially wide range of activities to suit each setting.
