Looking for a roundup of Milwaukee food and drink news? Then take a bite of our cleverly titled, bi-weekly Food/Drink Roundup! This week: a food truck park planned for that old scooter shop on Water Street!

• You know that old Moto-Scoot scooter shop at 1652 N. Water St.? You know, that little, long-empty building next to that big, $1,225-a-month-for-a-405-square-foot-studio Rhythm apartment building? Well, after years of proposed development plans, it might be a food truck park now!

Brothers Murad and Mazin Hamdan—who own Chubby’s Cheesesteaks and Señor Gordito’s—along with their cousin Ramzey Huneidi, plan to open the Pali Park Food District at the diminutive Water Street space this summer. Vendors will include Señor Gordito’s (natch), ShawarMama, and Bodega Bagel. The park also plans to “host community events such as live music, farmers markets, art shows, supply drives and more.”

The park’s concept takes its cues from the family’s Palestinian (and Milwaukee) roots.

“Our family has been here for over 100 years,” Huneidi told Urban Milwaukee. “The food truck park is not just about dining; it’s about a symbol of humanity, of diversity in unity, inspired by the resilience and the spirit of our brothers and sisters across the world who are suffering, especially in our homeland of Palestine.”

Huneidi and the brothers Hamdan hope to have the park open by mid-July. “Once open,” notes Urban Milwaukee, “proposed hours for Pali Park would be from 10 a.m. to 3 a.m.” [Urban Milwaukee]
