When you think of magical musical happenings, which magical musical happenings do you think of? Woodstock 1969. Wattstax 1972. Live Aid 1985. And, of course, New Kids On The Block‘s 1990 “Magic Summer Tour,” which is getting a reboot in 2024.

Yep, 34 years (!) after NKOTB embarked on their original magical boy band tour (it featured illusions from magician Harry Blackstone Jr., thus the name), the boys will hit the road once again, playing many of the same venues they played in 1990. The tour will kick off June 14; its penultimate show will take place at Milwaukee’s American Family Insurance Amphitheater on Saturday, August 24. And yes, Paula Abdul and DJ Jazzy Jeff will be there, too.

“New Kids On The Block are bringing back their best moments and memories,” explains a press release. “They have promised to be performing their greatest hits, unexpected fan favorites and magical surprises for their diehard fans all across the country. The 2024 Magic Summer Tour is where the magic happens!”

RANDOM PERSONAL STORY FROM THE AUTHOR

When I was growing up during the New Kids’ ’80s/’90s reign my family was friends with another family that had four young girls. They were all obsessed with the New Kids. Like, the entire family wore New Kids clothes and had a New Kids background in one of their annual family photos. Anyway, the mother of the family once told my mother that the New Kids were “going to be bigger and better than The Beatles,” and my mom got super pissed. I think she stopped talking to the other mom for a while. She still gets angry about it today.
