EsterEv, the reservation-only fine-dining restaurant within DanDan (360 E. Erie St.), plans to move into its own digs.

A license application filed with the city indicates that DanDan and EsterEv owners Dan Jacobs and Dan Van Rite plan to move the latter business to the former C-Viche space in Bay View, 2165 S. Kinnickinnic Ave. C-viche left the space in October 2023. (C-viche’s Shorewood location remains open.)

A proposed opening date for the standalone EsterEv is listed as March 20. Hours are listed as Wednesday through Saturday, 5-9 p.m. A sample menu (from 2017) includes snacks like deviled eggs and smoked bluefish paté, and main dishes like hamachi tartar and lamb cheek.

Jacobs and Van Rite opened DanDan in 2016, specializing in “chef-driven Chinese food with a midwestern sensibility.” EsterEv opened soon after, offering a “globally influenced 10 course pre-fixe menu that changes weekly.” It is named after the owners’ great-grandmothers, Ester and Evelyn.

We’ve reached out to the owners for more information.
