Milwaukee is chock full of things to do, but only a handful of Milwaukee events are worthy of the lofty honor of “Record Recommended” (patent pending). Here are our recommendations—brought to you by Lilliput Records—for July 7-13, 2025.

MONDAY, JULY 7

Musical Mondays: Sinkane @ Lake Park Summer Stage
No Milwaukee outdoor summer concert series is quite as cozy—or quite as eclectic—as Musical Mondays. The free summertime series takes place on the Lake Park Summer Stage, near the playground, throughout July and August. And this year’s season—Musical Monday’s 27th!—looks to be another winner. “Sinkane (aka Ahmed Gallab) and his high-energy six-piece band bring ambitious, dazzling sounds of a world of music—from funk to free jazz to pop—set to the foundational soul of the rhythms of his native Sudan.”

Pomfret + Delirium, Buena Cara, Clementine, My Melody @ X-Ray Arcade

TUESDAY, JULY 8

Chill On The Hill: Long Mama + Driveway Thriftdwellers @ Humboldt Park
Chilling in the woods and living simply: that’s the back-to-basics sentiment behind the gentle and soothing “Corduroy Road,” the 2023 single from Milwaukee indie-folk/Americana group Long Mama. “Corduroy Road” finds singer-songwriter-guitarist Kat Wodtke reflecting on their time spent living in Alaska; at the age of 22, Wodtke took a job building scenery for the Fairbanks Shakespeare Theatre, and lived in a small trailer six miles from town. Poor Pretender, Long Mama’s fantastic full-length debut, was released in 2022.

As such, the Cleveland, OH trio—Eric Egan (vocals, guitar), Adam Paduch (drums), and Ty Sickels (guitar)—stare down fate with an ear-to-ear smile on their fourth full-length LP, Joyride The Pale Horse.

Graham Hunt (record release) + Impish Tips, Royal Jelly @ Cactus Club
“If you know how to work the angles, you can fit a lot into the container of a three- or four-minute pop song. Graham Hunt understands this. Since he was a teenager, he’s been working at perfecting the form, writing songs that get to the heart of what makes Midwestern guitar pop so essential, and doing it while sidestepping any of the dead-end creative moves that weigh down many in the genre.” Tonight, Hunt will celebrate the release of his excellent new album, Timeless World Forever.
