Way back in 2016, Milwaukee Record joined forces with Company Brewing to make a collaborative beer. The so-called “Milwaukee Record Re-Porter” was a spiced porter that was available seasonally until the Riverwest brewery’s abrupt closure in May 2024. Company Brewing’s sudden conclusion also meant the end of our beer. However, we’re pleased to report there will soon be another Milwaukee Record beer on the market.
This time around, we’re partnering with Ope! Brewing in West Allis to produce a collaborative beer we think a lot of you are going to love. “Milwaukee Record’s Bee-Side Honey Lager” was brewed last week. The light-bodied lager will get a dash of locally sourced sweetness from Kallas Honey. As an ode to Wisconsin’s state fruit, we selected the Milwaukee-based apiary’s cranberry blossom honey variant. That sweetness will be countered by the subtle presence of cashmere hops from Michigan. Ope! tells us Bee-Side Honey Lager will have an ABV of approximately 4.7 percent.

The beer will officially hit tap lines and cans on Thursday, April 2. That same night, Milwaukee Record will host a beer release event at Ope! Brewing’s taproom (6751 W. National Ave., West Allis) that will double as our 12th anniversary party. In addition to being able to enjoy Bee-Side Honey Lager for the very first time, there will also be performances by HOSTS, Gold Steps, and West Allis-born comedian Dana Ehrmann. Chucho’s Red Tacos and another food truck TBA will also be on-site. The fun kicks off at 7 p.m. and the show is FREE. Consider using some of that savings on more honey lager!
Milwaukee Record’s Bee-Side Honey Lager will be available for purchase exclusively at Ope! Brewing, both on draft and in 16-ounce tallboy form (including 4-packs that can be sold to-go), starting Thursday, April 2. The beer’s longevity depends on how it sells, so save the date and join us at Ope! Brewing to enjoy some Bee-Side Honey Lager. And if there’s any left after that event, stop by Ope! to get some while this first batch—of hopefully many—lasts.
It’s taken a while, but Milwaukee Record is getting its very own beer again! Cheers, Milwaukee (and West Allis).
