Last September, Milwaukee got its first hemp and CBD specialty shop when Canni Hemp Co. opened a retail store on 5th Street. In the handful of months since Canni came to Walker’s Point, a number of other hemp and CBD retailers (and cafes) have popped up all around town and in Milwaukee’s suburbs. With awareness and availability of hemp and cannabidiol in Milwaukee at an all-time high, there’s reason to celebrate.

On Saturday, May 18, Canni Hemp Co. will host an all-day event centered around entertainment, education, and advocacy. From noon to midnight, the inaugural Canni Fest will take over The Cooperage. The event will include performances by Immortal Girlfriend, Moon Rats, Genesis Renji, Shle Berry, Christopher Gold & The New Old Things, Isiah Joshua, Valerie Lightheart, and DJ sets by Elechronic.

Over the course of the day, Canni Fest will also feature roundtable discussions involving several county and state representatives, business owners, and industry experts. Canni owner Colin Plant says he organized the festival “to provide an educational, advocacy, and networking event, while celebrating the exciting progress and future state of the cannabis industry in Wisconsin.” Plant also tells Milwaukee Record there will be direct access to products and information on-site.

Advance tickets to Canni Fest are $15 and they’re available now. Whether you’re a CBD proponent, you’re interested in learning more about cannabis industry, or just looking for a place to see an awesome mix of Milwaukee musicians, you won’t want to miss Canni Fest.
