Depending on which news sources you follow, Milwaukee is going through either a “renaissance” or a “reinvention.” However you want to define it, it’s safe to say that Milwaukee is currently building a lot of new and wonderful things! Here are some of them, brought to you by GTG Home Buyers!

• A new condominium development called The Fifteens at Park East is set to break ground this summer at 1524-1546 N. Jefferson St. The development will include 15 three-story townhouses. It will, according to a press release, be the “first major condominium development in Downtown Milwaukee in over a decade.” [Galbraith Carnahan Architects]

• That $7.5 million proposal to transform Whitefish Bay’s vacant Fox Bay Cinema into a multi-purpose entertainment venue is moving forward. [Milwaukee Business Journal]

• Milwaukee Development Corp. wants to turn a former hospital at 2711 W. Wells St. into 100 affordable apartments for seniors. [Milwaukee Journal Sentinel]

• Northernstar Companies LLC wants to build another 100-unit affordable apartment building for seniors at 2318 – 2332 S. Austin St. in Bay View. [Milwaukee Journal Sentinel]

• Milwaukee County is gearing up to build a new $500 million criminal courthouse. The new facility “will provide a new space for the justice system functions currently taking place at the Safety Building, 821 W. State St.” [Urban Milwaukee]

• Ahead of its conversion into a 384-unit apartment tower, the 37-story 100 East Building at 100 E. Wisconsin Ave. (natch) has been added to National Register of Historic Places. It was built in 1989. [OnMilwaukee]

• Milwaukee author Darick Spears plans to turn a vacant three-story building at 3953 N. 76th St. into a book store and community space. [Urban Milwaukee]

• A real estate firm, Phases Unlimited, plans to buy and move into a former “bungalow-style” fire station at 2509 W. Capitol Dr. The station closed in 1990. [Urban Milwaukee]

• Milwaukee says “NO!” to ICE building whatever facility it wants in Milwaukee! Headline: “ICE Can Build Whatever Facility It Wants in Milwaukee.” [Urban Milwaukee]
