Depending on which news sources you follow, Milwaukee is going through either a “renaissance” or a “reinvention.” However you want to define it, it’s safe to say that Milwaukee is currently building a lot of new and wonderful things! Here are some of them, brought to you by GTG Home Buyers!
• Do you enjoy having a say in some of the new and wonderful things Milwaukee is building? If so, you’re in luck, because there are two big projects that are open to public input…
First up is Ivanhoe Plaza on the city’s East Side. It’s been a few years since a chunk of Ivanhoe Place between Hooligan’s and the former Crossroads Collective was closed to vehicular traffic and designated as a pedestrian plaza. (The woman who runs the cat cafe wasn’t pleased.) Today, it stands as a relatively bare-bones summertime gathering spot highlighted by a nifty road mural:

But according to the East Side BID, there are plans to further transform Ivanhoe Plaza into a “permanent, thoughtfully designed public plaza that will serve residents, students, visitors, and local businesses for years to come.” What do those plans entail? Well…
• Make room for markets, music, film nights, and everyday connection
• Bring more customers and foot traffic to surrounding East Side businesses
• Prioritize people by improving pedestrian access and safety
• Establish a permanent public space the neighborhood can count on for years to come
“We’re seeking business partners, community leaders, and community members who want to invest in the future of the East Side and help bring this long-term civic project to life,” says the East Side BID. “Join us at our public meeting on March 11 from 5-7:30 PM at UW-Milwaukee Cambridge Commons to learn more about the vision, ask questions, and explore how you can be part of shaping the next chapter of Ivanhoe Plaza.”

• Next up is downtown’s Red Arrow Park. Yep, Red Arrow Park is getting a redesign, too.
“We’re exploring new design possibilities for Red Arrow Park—and we want to hear from you!” says the Downtown Milwaukee BID. “Three concept options have been developed based on community input gathered so far, and now it’s your turn to review them, share what you love, and tell us what could be improved.”
The three options for Red Arrow Park’s future include “The Commons,” “The Courtyard,” and “The Garden.” You can check them out HERE. (Oh, and one of those options, “The Garden,” calls for replacing the current ice rink with a park-wide “ice ribbon.”)

“Your feedback will guide the next phase of design and help ensure the park reflects the needs, values, and creativity of the community it serves,” says the Downtown Milwaukee BID. You can leave that feedback HERE.
