We got a Basketball Jones over at Milwaukee Record HQ these days. Between the surprisingly great play a young and unabashedly rebuilding Milwaukee Bucks team has managed through 53 games this season and rampant speculation regarding the location and funding of a new arena, the organization has given the state a lot to be excited about. The team returns from the All Star break tonight, but while they were off, we invited two knowledgeable and credentialed Bucks writers—Milwaukee Magazine assistant editor/arena guru Dan Shafer and Bucksketball founder Jeremy Schmidt—into our office to discuss the season so far, the ongoing arena developments, and the changing public perception of the long-beleagured franchise.

Together, we touch on all that (including some now-irrelevant chatter about since-departed Bucks Larry Sanders and Brandon Knight) and make a wealth of obscure references to players from seasons past. We also talked about Goosebumps books and Columbus, Ohio for some reason.

As always, this episode of On The Record is brought to you by the gracious support of our brewery buddies at Ale Asylum, who provided the delicious Velveteen Habit and Unshadowed we enjoyed whilst recording. Music used in the episode comes compliments of Milwaukee bands Low Down Sound (“Light Up Your Soul”) and Calliope (“Casino”). Subscribe to On The Record via iTunes (for free!) here.
