Born in the 1970s, hip-hop has become the dominant musical art form of the early 21st century. Fought between the years 1775–1783, the Revolutionary War has become the defining event in the early history of our nation. Put the two together and you get Dad‘s video for “17th Century.” Wait, what.

Yes, history is a bit askew in “17th Century,” which finds the enigmatic, heavily bearded, and tongue-planted-firmly-in-cheek Milwaukee emcee visiting a Revolutionary War reenactment and making a host of groan-worthy (some might say dad) jokes about horsepower. “Basically, I went to a Revolutionary War reenactment for a few hours and made it into a historically incorrect music video,” Dad tells us. Like Abraham Lincoln said, mission accomplished.
