Today, from 2-5 p.m. on the plaza outside Fiserv Forum, Milwaukee is invited to celebrate Giannis Antetokounmpo’s first MVP award at the aptly named “Giannis MVP Celebration.” Fans will be able to see kids from the Boys & Girls Club present Giannis with his trophy, as well as get a chance to check out the Milwaukee Bucks superstar’s first signature shoe, the Nike Air Zoom Freak 1.

It’s sure to be a shindig of epic proportions. But what if you can’t make it to the Fiserv in the next few hours? Well, thanks to Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele, today is officially Giannis Antetokounmpo Day (in Milwaukee County, at least). So feel free to celebrate any way you choose, and read the full executive proclamation below:

EXECUTIVE PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS, The NBA Most Valuable Player Award is presented to the NBA player who showcased an exemplary performance during the regular season; and

WHEREAS, Giannis Antetokounmpo played a major role in leading the Milwaukee Bucks in an outstanding season with the best record upon entering the NBA Playoffs; and

WHEREAS, Giannis is a well-rounded player who contributes to the Milwaukee Bucks as an excellent scorer, by averaging 27.7 points per game, as well as being a superb defender; and

WHEREAS, Giannis is an exceptional example of what Milwaukee and the Bucks stand for in terms of integrity and humility, indicating that he is more than just an excellent basketball player; and

WHEREAS, Giannis Antetokounmpo has been honored for this extraordinary season with the 2019 NBA Most Valuable Player Award; now, therefore
