Rod & Makk operators to open second concept at 3rd St. Market Hall: Fonzarelli’s Italian Deli

Milwaukee, WI – Wednesday, October 16, 2024 – 3rd St. Market Hall will welcome a new vendor that’s inspired by one of Milwaukee’s most iconic TV personalities. Fonzarelli’s Italian Deli pays homage to the classic Italian style sandwich shop that has deep roots in Milwaukee’s Italian-American food scene—a tradition that goes back over 50 years.

The concept is led by Tim Szuta and Greg Kieckbusch; the two joined forces last summer to open Rod & Makk, combining their existing concepts (Szuta’s Alphonzo’s, famous for 1lb Lightning Rod Mozzarella Sticks) and Greg’s MakknCheese. Fonzarelli’s is slated to open to the public on Friday, October 18, 2024.

“We’re excited to add Fonzarelli’s to the lineup at 3rd St. Market Hall,” said Greg Kieckbush. “We know this concept is going to fill a need at the Market Hall and are excited for this expansion of our footprint in the hall; Rod & Makk is going great and we’re believers in this great hub for local food and beverage operators to grow while exploring creative, fun concepts,” he added.

Fonzarelli’s will be taking the vacant hawker stall space most recently occupied by Yummy Bowl MKE. The cozy space is perfect for their quick serve sandwich operation. While the menu is built around handhelds, they’ll offer appetizers and baked pastas too.

All sandwiches are served on locally baked Sciortino’s breads and served with potato chips. Headlining handhelds include The Classic Italian (Capicola, Pepperoni, Salami, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion covered in Mas Italian oil, vinegar and seasonings), Italian Beef (Italian Beef slow cooked with Secret Italian Seasonings served with DA JUICE), Papa’s Meatball (Meatballs, DA SAUCE, Basil, Mozzarella, and Parmesan) and the vegetarian Roasted Pepper Melt (Garlic Cheese Bread topped with Roasted Red and Green Peppers, Onions, and DA SAUCE).

Additional items include Baked Mostaccioli (Mostaccioli tossed in DA SAUCE baked with Mozzarella and Parmesan), Italian Potato Chips (Mostaccioli tossed in DA SAUCE baked with Mozzarella and Parmesan) and Cannoli and Tiramisu for dessert.

“These guys bring such enthusiasm to the market hall, from their unique take on classic comfort food to the nostalgic décor of their stations, they’ve thought of every detail.” said Jaime Jacobs, 3rd St. Market Hall Operations Manager. She added, “The sandwiches on this menu are craveable, just what we needed to enhance the offerings here.
