Thank you to everyone who made it out to last night’s SOLD OUT Milwaukee Record screening of To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar at Avalon Theater. What a night and what a movie! So how are we ever going to chase a well-attended showing of such a beloved and groundbreaking classic comedy? We’ve got two words and a forward slash for you: Face/Off. Yep, we’re screening it at Avalon Theater on Wednesday, June 17 and you’re invited. Tickets are on sale NOW!

In case you’ve been living under a rock…or if you’re not 35 or older, this straight-up bonkers 1997 blockbuster stars Nicholas Cage as international terrorist Castor Troy and John Travolta in the role of Sean Archer, the FBI agent whose life mission is bringing Troy to justice for his crimes (including the murder of Archer’s son). Faces and identities are swapped, thousands of bullets fly, and a wealth of hilariously unrealistic action sequences—the type only a director like John Woo could pull off—ensue. Oh, and Gina Gershon, CCH Pounder, Thomas Jane, Margaret Cho, and John Carroll Lynch are in the this thing too. It’s wild! It’s fun! It’s Face/Off.

As always, this 7 p.m. screening is sponsored by Lakefront Brewery, Gruber Law Offices, and Skilos: A Family Pet Store. Get those tickets NOW! BUT THERE’S MORE!!! Immediately after the movie, we’ll be heading over to The Mothership for a “Post Credit” event, which will coincide with the bar’s weekly Turbo Karaoke. We’ll be there from 9:30-11:30 p.m., giving away some Milwaukee Record and WYNK goodies to anyone who shows us their ticket stub.
