Director Joe Dante injected plenty of dark and subversive humor into 1984’s Gremlins (look no further than the infamous “Santa Claus” story), but when it came time to direct the sequel six years later, Dante went full Dante. On Wednesday, August 31 at 6:30 p.m., you can experience (or re-experience) this pure, uncut Dante when we screen 1990’s Gremlins 2: The New Batch at the Avalon Atmospheric Theater. Reserved seating tickets are $11, and are on sale NOW.

Oh, where to begin with this chaotic masterpiece? How about all the new Gremlins: A Gremlin with glasses who can talk and sing “New York, New York”? That’s brilliant, it’s in the movie, done. A Gremlin with eight legs and a thorax just catching pretty ladies in a web in an office building? Oh my god, it’s in the movie, I love it. How about the zany cameos: You talking about putting Hulk Hogan—professional wrestler turned actor turned cultural icon—in the movie where he breaks the fourth wall of the movie he’s in by talking to the audience? That’s it, I don’t even care anymore, we got the Hulkster in this bitch, so it’s done.

Oh, and don’t forget about Vegetable Gremlin.

Like all our Avalon screenings, our G2 screening is being sponsored by our pals at Lakefront Brewery. We can’t wait! See you on the 31st! Enjoy the actual trailer!
