Are you a fan of Mystery Science Theater 3000-style movie riffing? Are you a fan of semi-obscure Milwaukee-made movies? THEN HAVE WE GOT AN EVENT FOR YOU.

On Thursday, February 29, at 7:30 p.m., get yourself to Milwaukee comedy club The Laughing Tap (706 S. 5th St.) for the glorious return of Laugh Track Cinema! The newly revived series features local comics riffing (lovingly) on local films. And this time around, those comics (TBA) will tackle a doozy: 2009’s Milwaukee-made CGI creature feature Guardians!

Not familiar with Guardians? Here’s the synopsis:

Twilight Cove, a small forgotten town, is besieged by hideous creatures summoned into our dimension. It’s only a matter of time before the army of creatures attacks the rest of civilization and wreaks havoc upon the world. At dusk, a beat-up truck containing a rag-tag team of hardened mercenaries rolls into town, and this is not the first time they’ve been called in to exterminate; they are part of a secret society that has been operating outside of the government and the public eye for thousands of years. Their mission is to keep our world safe from evil-of our own creation and from beyond.

Need more incentive to drop by on the 29th? Well, director Drew Maxwell will be in attendance for a mid-film chat, as will two other folks who were involved in the film: The Laughing Tap’s own Matt Kemple, and Milwaukee Record‘s own Matt Wild! And, speaking for myself, I have some STORIES.

This installment of Laugh Track Cinema is presented by Milwaukee Record and WMSE. Advance tickets are available NOW for $10. Tickets will be $15 at the door. Oh, and the show is 18+ because, among other things, the film involves some brief nudity. And boy, do I have even more stories about THAT.
