UPDATE: GILDA HAS BEEN ADOPTED!

•••

Milwaukee Record is working in partnership with Urban Cat Coalition—a local organization that’s dedicated to creating a no kill community by humanely reducing the cat population in the Milwaukee area through targeted trap-neuter-return (TNR)—to help find loving homes for area cats. Each week, we plan to highlight a feline friend that’s currently up for adoption by naming it “Milwaukee Record’s Cat Of The Week.” This week: Gilda.

Meet Gilda!

Gilda is estimated to be around five years old and is very friendly. She loves neck, head, and back scratches. Tail scratches…not so much. Move back to the head pets please! If you try to stop petting her, that simply won’t do at all. She loves attention. You can tell she wants to play when the quick, swishy tail comes out.

She’s very food motivated and loves wand toys and catnip. She will own any scratching post like a champ! The more of them you have, the better.

Gilda was found living with her four small kittens in a small gap between a comedy club and another business in downtown Milwaukee. So we named her after a great comedian, Gilda Radner. Because she had to do so much fending for her kittens from other stray cats, raccoons, and opossums, other felines seem to put her on edge. For that reason, Gilda would like to be an only cat or to be adopted with one of her kittens. She is a very good mama and LOVES her kittens. They are still being socialized and not yet ready for adoption.

Her ideal adopter will have a relatively quiet home and understand she’ll need a little time to adjust and gain trust. But she is very sweet and funny, and she will definitely steal your heart.
