From April 27-30, Arte Para Todos—a.k.a. “Milwaukee’s largest local music event”—will return for its third year. With nearly 100 acts showcasing their talents in 25 venues spread throughout five neighborhoods, knowing where to go and who to see can be a little daunting. It’s impossible to hit up everything, so, in case you need some pointers, here’s what we’ll be up to for Day 1 in Walker’s Point. (Tickets are $8 per show, or $13 for a single-day pass. A four-day festival pass can be purchased online here.)

BRENNER BREWING
4:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. – Wristband pickup

Get your Arte Para Todos pregame on—and pick up your wristband—at the spacious and inviting Brenner Brewing. And hey! The first 50 folks through the door will get a free Brenner brew. Let’s do this, Milwaukee.

88NINE RADIO MILWAUKEE
5:30 p.m. – Mortgage Freeman (414 Live)
6:15 p.m. – Phat Nerdz
7 p.m. – Tigernite

We’ll be posting up at the luxurious 88Nine Radio Milwaukee studios for the first leg of our Walker’s Point evening. Mortgage Freeman will perform for the station’s 414 Live program, and hip-hop collective Phat Nerdz and glam-rock juggernauts Tigernite will follow. Need more Tigernite? Of course you do. Look for the band in our Public Domain video series next month.

GIBRALTAR
8:30 p.m. – Kavon Cortez-Jones
9:30 p.m. – Sugar Ransom & theworkersparty
10:30 p.m. – Tontine Ensemble
11:30 p.m. – Rusty Pelicans

Next it’s off to Evan Christian’s newly opened jazz joint Gibraltar for Milwaukee poet Kavon Coretz-Jones, who recently dropped by our On The Record podcast. Sugar Ransom and her woozy, bittersweet folk is up next; later in the night, we’ll be back for the mighty Rusty P’s.

VAR GALLERY
6:30 p.m. – Sam Guyton
7:30 p.m. – Shle Berry
8:30 p.m. – Chakara Blu
9:30 p.m. – Boom Forest (Madison)
10:30 p.m. – Siren

If you’re looking for a voice fit for an art gallery, look no further than Siren.

TRANSFER PIZZERIA
7:30 p.m. – Eric Schoor Trio w/ Manty Ellis

ANODYNE COFFEE ROASTING CO.
(stage design by Kristina Rolander, live visuals by WC Tank)
8 p.m. – Gas Station Sushi
9 p.m. – Suzie (Minneapolis)
10 p.m. – Taj Raiden
11 p.m. – NO/NO

The Walker’s Point Anodyne should be bustling all night long (like many of the Walker’s Point stops, it’s all-ages), but the final set of the night shouldn’t be missed. Sexy synth slingers NO/NO have been an unstoppable Milwaukee force for nearly three years now, and their shows are always inclusive, deliriously danceable good times.

THE LOCAL
(live art by Bailey Bfunky)
9 p.m. – Pleasure Thief
10 p.m. – Table for Four
11 p.m. – Crystal City (Iowa City)
12 a.m. – Duckling
1 a.m. – Klassik

It’s getting late and the lights are getting low; who better to take Day 1 of Arte Para Todos home than Klassik? The staggeringly talented singer/songwriter/rapper/producer/performer embodies everything that makes the Milwaukee music scene today so great. Also: Arte Para Todos itself. See you tomorrow in Bay View.
