If you follow Major League Baseball you’ve surely encountered the viral “Tarps Off” phenomenon. This is an original, all-new, never-before-seen craze where male fans at professional sporting events take their shirts off. Then they wave their shirts around and cheer. Seriously. That’s it. But the dudes gather in groups and the thing has a funny name, we guess, so it’s something people are talking about. Huh. Neat.
Anyway, the craze recently hit Milwaukee, with shirtless dudes gathering in the 400 sections of American Family Field. This caused a bit of concern from the Brewers over Memorial Day weekend, since not all of the dudes had tickets for those specific seats. A Brewers spokesperson even addressed the issue, telling CBS 58:
“We are very supportive of tarps off that we see at stadiums around the country, including American Family Field. Those sections are near capacity with fans who have purchased seats there, and that leaves little room. When open seating is not available, we have to limit access to that area.”
Again, this is all because of dudes taking their shirts off at baseball games. Truly unheard of.
ANYWAY, the Brewers have now officially embraced the whole “Tarps Off” thing. During Tuesday night’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals, a message appeared on AmFam Field’s screen instructing folks interested in Tarping Off to meet at the Miller Lite Landing…

Soon after, sure enough, the screen showed some shirtless dudes—a.k.a. members of the UWM Panthers baseball team—in that section. Huh. Neat.

Not that “Tarps Off” could be contained. We later spotted another group of Tarpers in the cheap seats…

…and we bumped into another group in the lower sections on our way out. (We didn’t get a photo of that group.)
But yeah, the Brewers beat the Cardinals 6-0. Jake Bauers and Garrett Mitchell had home runs. Jackson Chourio had a clutch double. Our guy Sal Frelick was out there. Abner Uribe did a thing. Oh, and some of the guys from the upcoming Super Troopers 3 were there for some reason, doing games and stuff between innings. Huh. Neat.
