It’s been nearly a year-and-a-half since Milwaukee/Brewers/universe legend Bob Uecker passed away at the age of 90. In that time, there have been countless tributes, celebrations of life, and tear-jerking documentaries. And now, this summer, there’ll be a Bob Uecker mural in Downtown Milwaukee. FINALLY.
According to a Milwaukee Downtown press release, the 80-foot by 100-foot (!) Uecker mural will be located on the north facade of the Wintrust Financial Center, 731 N. Jackson St. It will depict Uecker “in his renowned role as play-by-play announcer for the Milwaukee Brewers—a position held by Uecker for 54 seasons,” the press release explains.
“Bob loved Milwaukee, and greatly appreciated the connection he had with the city,” says Bob Uecker, Jr. “The community’s gesture to commemorate that connection is deeply touching. This mural will serve as a reminder of the enduring relationship between the two.”

The artist responsible for the mural is the ever-busy Mauricio Ramirez. Other Downtown murals from Ramirez include the Giannis Antetokounmpo mural at 600 E. Wisconsin Ave., and the “Heart and Sol” mural on the Community Advocates building at 728 N. James Lovell St.
“It’s a huge honor to create a mural celebrating Bob Uecker,” Ramirez says. “What he means to Milwaukee and to sports broadcasting is incredibly important. I hope this mural reflects the pride and lasting impact he gave to so many people.”
Ramirez has already begun work on the mural, and he’s expected to finish up in early June. The completion will be celebrated with a tailgate-themed ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Also: will Milwaukee Record be keeping daily—hell, hourly—tabs on the mural’s progress? You better believe it. Starting…now!
