Milwaukee to celebrate Independence Day in 2025

Tradition of City celebrations to include fireworks, family activities, and community events

MILWAUKEE — The City of Milwaukee’s Independence Day festivities are scheduled for Friday, July 4, 2025. Milwaukee has long celebrated the Fourth of July with community events throughout the city, a tradition dating back to 1911. Milwaukee will once again celebrate the great American holiday with parades, picnics, games, talent contests, fireworks, and more.

“Independence Day in Milwaukee is a great combination of celebration and tradition. Neighborhoods bring unique charm to their events while joining in the citywide patriotic themes,” Mayor Cavalier Johnson said. “Our festivities create goodwill and wonderful memories each Fourth of July.”

The Milwaukee Fourth of July Commission has selected the 2025 theme of “Joining Hands in Unity.”

Celebrations will be held at Milwaukee County Parks throughout the city, including Alcott Park, Enderis Playfield, Gordon Park, Humboldt Park, Jackson Park, King Center, Lake Park, Lincoln Park, Mitchell Park, Washington Park, and Wilson Park.

Due to reforestation work by Milwaukee County Parks, fireworks will not be held at Mitchell Park and Noyes Park this year.

“While Mitchell Park won’t host fireworks this year, I encourage residents to still gather with family and friends for daytime celebrations,” District 8 Alderwoman JoCasta Zamarripa said. “Independence Day is a cherished summer tradition and makes our community so special. Residents can still join together at Jackson Park for fireworks.”

“Milwaukee’s Independence Day celebrations are a special tradition that unites our city,” District 9 Alderwoman Larresa Taylor said. “Although I am disappointed Noyes Park won’t host festivities this year, we can continue to make this a memorable occasion for all by joining together at Washington Park for an amazing firework show.”

Further information about Independence Day celebrations throughout the City of Milwaukee will be available at a later date.

The Fourth of July celebrations are a community effort, including a city-wide Fourth of July Commission and neighborhood

committees. The City of Milwaukee and Milwaukee County are partners in the planning and hosting efforts.
