As the holiday season comes to a close, Alderman Scott Spiker wants area residents to know that if you’re phasing out or looking to donate your working holiday lights and outdoor displays, the Garden District Neighborhood Association (GDNA) may be able to use them in their 2021 Winter Wonderland display. The neighborhood association will be accepting new or used working lights (LED preferred) and holiday displays on two Saturdays this month. The first chance for residents to drop off their lights and displays will be January 9th from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at 6th and Norwich, one block south of Howard. The second collection will occur Saturday, January 16th at the same time and location.
Donated lights and displays will be used in December 2021 to create a Winter Wonderland that children and parents can walk through and enjoy during the holiday season. This year’s Winter Wonderland featured more than 100 displays totaling in excess of 40,000 lights. For those wanting to contribute but without lights, the GDNA is also accepting financial contributions toward next season’s event.
