[dropcap]W[/dropcap]hen we last checked in with WAMI, the organization behind the Wisconsin Area Music Industry awards unveiled the nominees for their 40th annual awards ceremony (originally set to take place at Turner Hall on April 19). Of course, the event was postponed on account of COVID-19 concerns, meaning Wisconsin musicians, venues, and behind-the-scenes figures will need to wait until September 20—the rescheduled date for the Turner Hall shindig—at the very earliest to see if they won any hardware.

While the annual awards are on hold for the moment, WAMI is keeping busy and “honoring the best and brightest within the state’s music scene” with the creation of its new “Wall Of Honor.” Today, WAMI announced the inaugural Wall Of Honor class, which includes Summerfest stalwarts Bob Babisch and Vic Thomas, veteran percussionist and bandleader Eddie Butts, Wisconsin radio personality Marilynn Mee, longtime Henri’s Music manager Gary Shaw, and a nonprofit organization called Madison Area Music Association.
