Pabst Brewing Company—which originated here in 1844 before closing its Milwaukee brewery in 1996—continues to make moves in the ever-changing brewing industry. While its classic flagship Pabst Blue Ribbon recipe (thankfully) remains untouched, the company has cycled new products in and out in recent years in an effort to appeal to new consumers and stay relevant amid unprecedented competition in the beverage sector.
The latest offering is something that’s far less of a departure than its line of THC “High Seltzers” and its now-discontinued Pabst Hard Coffee. Today, the band announced it’s going back to basics with a new, improved Pabst Light. Not to be confused with its low calorie “Pabst Easy” or a version of “Pabst Blue Ribbon Light” (remember that light blue can logo?), this Pabst Light is made with El Dorado hops to offer a slightly different and more complex take on the classic light lager.
A 12-ounce can of Pabst Light has 96 calories (48 fewer calories than standard PBR), 3.5 carbs, and a 4.2% ABV. Once it hits the market, Pabst Light will be available in 12-ounce and 16-ounce can multi-packs, as well as individual 25-ounce cans. Stay tuned for Milwaukee Record‘s assessment of Pabst Light once we get our hands on some. In the meantime, keep an eye out for a brand new release from a brewery that got its start in town.
