In 2015, we said goodbye to the summer with a late September screening of Wet Hot American Summer. The first-ever Milwaukee showing of the cult comedy classic sold out, people dressed up as characters from the film, laughs were had, and drinks were consumed. It was great. So we did it again in 2017. Since it’s been a while and summer is fading fast, we figured what the heck, let’s run it back a third time.

Join us at Avalon Theater on Wednesday, September 17 to watch the incomparably funny film that so many fell in love with long after its bewilderingly brief theatrical run. Tickets are on sale NOW. Even if you’ve seen Gene hump a refrigerator or watched McKinley and Ben make out dozens of times before, it’s doubtful you witnessed those moments on the big screen in years (if ever!). Though you might know Alan Shemper’s comedy routine by heart and can time the sound of breaking clay pots down to the nanosecond, both are even sweeter in surround sound. Have you ever experienced Andy laboriously picking up his dishes while you were sitting in the company of 200+ others? Probably not.

If you want to see Paul Rudd, Amy Poehler, Bradley Cooper, Janeane Garofalo, Elizabeth Banks, Christopher Meloni, Molly Shannon, Ken Marino, David Hyde Pierce, Michael Ian Black, Michael Showalter, a vegetable can-voicing H. Jon Benjamin, and so many more in some of their most memorable roles, come to Avalon Theater on September 17. Make it your beeswax to be there at 7 p.m.

Tickets for this special Milwaukee Record screening of an unforgettable cinematic summer standard are $11. As always, the screening is sponsored by our friends at Lakefront Brewery, Gruber Law Offices, and Skilos: A Family Pet Store. We’ve said it before, but this showing might be your last chance to see Wet Hot American Summer in a movie theater (until we do it again in late 2033 or something), so act fast before tickets run out.
