Good lord, has it already been 10 years since Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez’s gloriously bat-shit Grindhouse sullied movie screens nationwide? Yes, yes it has. The double-feature exploitation throwback was released in 2007, complete with two feature-length films (Rodriguez’s Planet Terror and Tarantino’s Death Proof), fake trailers (Don’t, Thanksgiving), fake trailers that became real movies (Machete, Hobo With A Shotgun), and all the trappings and scratched prints of a sleazy B-movie drive-in circa 1970. Though long since released on DVD and Blu-ray separately and together, the full Planet Terror/Death Proof/fake trailers (don’t forget about Werewolf Women Of The SS!) experience has been impossible to replicate. Until now.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Grindhouse, Milwaukee’s Rosebud Cinema will screen the whole kit and caboodle September 15-21. Is there a better way to watch a three-hour schlock-fest than from the comfort of Rosebud’s couches? Barring traveling back to a time when grindhouse films freely roamed the land, probably not.
