On Thursday, September 18, the third annual Hoancoming will celebrate the end of summer with a free festival dedicated to Milwaukee’s iconic Daniel Hoan Memorial Bridge. The water, air, and general area surrounding the bridge will be filled with live music, a boat parade, a drone and light show synced to Hoan Bridge lights, and more. Want to check it out? Hop on a boat, or make your way to the outdoor patio of Boone & Crockett / The Cooperage at 6 p.m. It’s free!
Want some Madison in your Milwaukee end-of-summer festival? Then check out a new addition to Hoancoming: Terrace on Lake Michigan. “For one evening, part of the Lake Michigan shore will be transformed into a mini version of the Wisconsin Union’s beloved waterfront gathering place, the Terrace,” a press release explains. “Attendees will enjoy elements of the Terrace, including the iconic sunburst Terrace chairs, brats, beverages, as well as performances by DJ LoLo and the University of Wisconsin Marching Band.” Fun!
“Terrace on Lake Michigan is about more than brats, chairs and music; it’s about the shared connection between Milwaukee and Madison,” says Mark Guthier, Wisconsin Union director and University of Wisconsin–Madison associate vice chancellor for Student Affairs, in a press release. “The Wisconsin Union’s Terrace experience is a source of community, joy and pride for Wisconsin, and bringing that experience to Milwaukee is the perfect way to join the communities together.”
Here’s where you can find all the city-spanning Hoancoming action:

Oh, and if you bring a “current or expired UW–Madison student ID, a current UW–Madison staff Wiscard, a Wisconsin Union lifetime or annual membership card, or a UW Credit Union debit or credit card,” you can enter a drawing to win one of those iconic sunburst Terrace chairs. Extra fun!
“Madison and Milwaukee are home to the majority of our members,” says Anne Norman, UW Credit Union executive vice president and chief marketing and product strategy officer, in a press release. “This event is a way to bridge the two communities and celebrate what makes them so unique. There is a lot of shared love among these markets, and this is such a fun way to bring that to life.”
