Through the years, Fuzzysurf has managed to release some of the most inventive, ambitious, and all-around impressive music videos in Milwaukee (and far beyond). The indie-tinged surf rock outfit’s astounding body of visual work includes puppetry, murder mystery concepts, oodles of animation, story-driven efforts that span multiple neighborhoods and involve dozens of extras, costumes galore, unconventional sets, and much more. They’ve done almost every type of music video imaginable. Almost.

However, one creative stone Fuzzysurf has left unturned to this point is the ever-impressive and always challenging one-shot music video. Until now, that is. The band’s brand new music video for standout Chameleons track “I Don’t Wanna Be Nothing Anymore” brought Fuzzysurf to Lilliput Records, where the group’s members essentially just browsed the East Side record store’s vast selection while singing and playing along to the song in one continuous and uninterrupted shot.

“It’s very simple, but it’s something we’ve always wanted to do,” Fuzzysurf bassist and frequent videographer Joe Ludwig says. “Obviously we have our history of making videos that feature elaborate cross-city storytelling that take weeks of planning and days of filming, but it was a nice challenge to get in and out of a video shoot in two hours, and coordinate all of the moving parts without any cuts.”

Unlike most other Fuzzysurf videos, the crew was kept lean this time around. Beyond the band itself, Ludwig’s sister Franki, who operated the camera, was the only other person present at Lilliput Records for the shoot.
