Hey dude, this is no cartoon: On Wednesday, January 25, we’re screening the 1990 live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film at the Avalon Atmospheric Theater. Reserved seating tickets to the 7 p.m. screening are $11 ($9 for kids 11 and under), and are on sale HERE. Cowabunga!

The 1990 TMNT film arrived amidst the wild popularity of the kid-friendly animated series, yet it has more in common with the original Eastman and Laird comic series. Surprisingly dark and serious, it takes many early comic storylines and molds them into a story of friendship, leadership, and mortality. (There’s plenty of pizza and zany sound effects, too.) Combine that with a solid voice cast (Corey Feldman IS Donatello!), a top-notch live-action cast (Elias Koteas IS Casey Jones!), and stellar costume work from Jim Henson’s Creature Shop, and you have an honest-to-goodness great film! (The extended farm scene is legit emotional.)

The screening will be presented in cooperation with our pals at Lakefront Brewery and Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin. Tickets, again, are available HERE. Come out of your shells and join us on the 25th! (If this things sells out, maybe we’ll do The Secret Of The Ooze in February, just for the Vanilla Ice song.)
