If you’ve been to the Milwaukee Film Festival in the past five years, you’ve probably encountered a peculiar set of films called Cinema Hooligante. This often bloody, disturbing, sick, subversive, and just plain fun program has been proudly sponsored by Milwaukee Record. Hell, that sponsorship even goes back to Milwaukee Record‘s predecessor, A.V. Club Milwaukee (R.I.P.)

And if you’ve been to the Oriental Theatre in the past five months, you’ve probably noticed that Cinema Hooligante has become a year-round affair. Yes, we’ve teamed up with Milwaukee Film to bring you Hooligante-tastic screenings every other Friday and Saturday. Last weekend it was Miami Connection; next up is…

The Blair Witch Project! See the wildly influential (and still great/unnerving/creepy) 1999 found-footage horror film on Friday, August 23, and/or Saturday, August 24. Both screenings begin at 11:15 p.m. Get your tickets HERE. JOSH! JOSH! JAAAAAWWWWSSSSSHHHH!!!

And then, on Friday, September 6, and Saturday, September 7, keep your Shrekfest festivities going strong with Shrek Retold! What’s the deal with Shrek Retold? Well, according to mastermind Grant Duffrin (who will be in attendance): “3GI got over 200 people to remake Shrek. This is it.” So there you go. Both screenings begin at 11 p.m. Oh, and they’re FREE!
